Johnson-County Central wrestling hosted their invitational tournament Friday, December 19 at the JCC Middle School in Cook. Four wrestlers, two boys and two girls, took home gold medals from the competition, and seven other medals were awarded to JCC wrestlers.
Both competing girl wrestlers, Alejandra Reyes and Haylee Trew, won their brackets at 105 and 110 pounds, respectively. Reyes won through her five-match round-robin with four pins, the fastest of which coming in at just under a minute. Trew also wrestled in a round-robin, pinning each of her three opponents while not allowing a point scored on herself.
On the boys side, Cameron McDonald earned a first place medal after winning through his three-man round-robin, and was not scored on. JCC’s other first place boys finisher, Erik Prado, scored three pins in three matches, none of which lasted longer than a minute.
