Some 35 persons attended an education legislative meeting at Auburn senior high Thursday night, involving three state senators, school board members and administrators, and E.S.U. 4 personnel. 
John Skaggs was sworn in as third ward councilman at a special meeting Monday at noon.
 While collecting coins ten years ago Dennis Meyers of Peru realized that the only way to add silver to his collection was either to pay for it or invest in a metal detector. In the years Meyers has used “a rig,” he has found 15,000 coins which have filled liberty and buffalo head nickel and Indian head dime coin books.

Auburn Kiwanis Club members heard during the Dec. 7 meeting about two local youths who participated in an inner-city mission trip last summer. Auburn Christian Church youth minister Mike Andrews reported Holly Thomas and Hudson Shires took part earlier this year in the mission trip to Syracuse, N.Y. The work they did included helping put on a Vacation Bible School for children, many who had never been in a church.
The Bulldogs built a 15-point lead in the second half and were never seriously challenged as Auburn claimed a 38 to 30 victory over Boys Town Saturday night.

As of Tuesday morning, Dec. 8, an estimated $13,000 was raised from the Nemaha County Gives Back event. The event was held Firday, Dec. 4 at the hospital and was a partnership between the hospital staff and Southeast Nebraska Community Action.
The first-ever results of Nebraska’s new accountability system were released on Friday, Dec. 4 showing that Auburn Public Schools was designated as one of Nebraska’s five excellent school districts. Bennington, Elkhorn, Potter-Dix and Riverside were also named Excellent districts.
