The Johnson-Brock FFA chapter sent 13 members to compete in Agriscience Fair at the 98th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis from Wednesday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Nov. 1.
Additionally, Layla Miller performed in the National FFA Band. The ensemble played at multiple concerts on stage at sessions throughout the convention.
Johnson-Brock had the most state champions, qualified national applications and the most national finalists representing Nebraska. Members can receive gold, silver and bronze ratings in the Agriscience Fair.
Two members received gold ratings: Craig Anthony, second in Power, Structure, and Technical Systems Division 2, and Katelyn Melvin, fifth in Social Systems Division 3.
Three projects received Top-10 silver ratings: Elliott Brommer and Noah Metschke, seventh in Plant Systems Division 3; Charlotte Metschke, seventh in Food Products and Processing Systems Division 2; and Lauren Behrends and Addison Grotrian, ninth in Animal Systems Division 4.
Four Agriscience Fair projects received bronze ratings: Mia Benight and Leighton Edwards, 11th in Food Products and Processing Systems Division 2; Hailee Greiner and Hannah Greiner, 12th in Food Products and Processing Systems Division 4; Jasmine Cherney, 14th in Animal Systems Division 1 and Gretchen Anthony, 15th in Environmental Services and Natural Resources Systems Division 5.
Top-10 recipients received their medals and recognition on stage at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
