Bohling Named Optimist Student of the Month for November

Emily Bohling

Emily Bohling, a Senior at Johnson-Brock has been named Optimist Youth of the Month for November. She has a grade point average of 4.0, is on High Distinction Honor Roll and has been inducted into the National Honor Society.
She has been a member of the FFA since eighth grade serving as Parliamentarian and Secretary. She has qualified for State Competition in Livestock Judging and Livestock Management. She has been a Middle Hitter for the Volleyball Team and has participated all four years. She is a Shooting Guard and Post for the Basketball Team and has lettered each year she has participated. The letter winner is a thrower for the Track Team.  She has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes since Seventh grade and currently serves as Class Historian.
Bohling has over 100 hours of community service including FFA trash pick up and canned food drive, elementary and junior high sports camps and coached T-ball.  She is a community vacation Bible school leader and has served residents on Walking in Faith for Christ Mission Trips.  She is a member of Saint Paul Hickory Grove Lutheran Church.
Bohling has been involved in 4H for 12 years. She has shown Sheep and Rabbits at the Nemaha County Fair. She was named the Fred Lockwood outstanding Junior Leader award winner. She served as Vice President for two years and President for another two of the Johnsonites 4H Club.
Farm work and daycare summarize Bohling’s employment.  She supervised three children under the age of seven, including preparing meals and transporting the children to events.  Feeding livestock, garden work, putting up hay and building fence, as well as operating farm tools and equipment, were included in the farm employment.
She is the daughter of Ryan and Denise Bohling of rural Auburn.  Although she is yet to decide on a college, she plans to major in Animal Science or Livestock Management. When she was reminiscing about her time at Johnson Brock High School, she commented…” my favorite moment of high school wasn’t just one thing. It was all of the little things that added up for me. Like the late night bus ride, talks and laughs after a game or FFA event. Or the goofy memories made in the locker room before a big game. It was bounding with all of these people around me and making life long friendships and memories.”
