The Auburn Senior Center was abuzz on November 25 as community members gathered for the annual Thanksgiving celebration. Residents of all ages were welcomed to enjoy classic holiday staples—turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and, of course, pumpkin pie. The aroma of the holiday feast filled the center, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that made everyone feel at home.
“We’re serving about 115 meals today, between in-person diners and Meals on Wheels deliveries,” said Renee Critser, who was helping serve the meals with a smile. This month, Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers included employees from Auburn’s Board of Public Works, who lent a helping hand to make sure everyone received their meals.
Charles Gilbert of rural Auburn, a regular diner at the Senior Center, said he and his wife come often for many reasons. “We come over a few days a week. It’s good to get out of the house to see people, and it helps keep our food budget lower,” he said. “This is a great meal today!”
