Beasterfield, who died in May, served 25 years as a 4-H volunteer and 16 years as manager of the Nebraska Extension-Nemaha County office.
The bench was placed near the entrance of the 4-H Building on the Nemaha County Fairgrounds. It was dedicated Sunday night, Nov. 2, at the 4-H Leader Recognition and Achievement Celebration. Beasterfield’s family attended.
Denise Bohling, 4-H leader, stated that Beasterfield was “willing to help you and take time for you. She greeted you with a smile on her face. She knew it all. She did everything and anything. She knew all of the answers, in 4-H, and farm and crop questions.”
Bohling thanked the Beasterfield family for celebrating her and expressed appreciation for a quarter century of service to 4-H.
“Sometimes we need to stop, listen and learn from each other. She impacted past, present and future 4-H’ers,” Bohling concluded.
Beasterfield was posthumously conferred the Friend of 4-H honor, accepted by her widower, Ray.
