50 Years Ago - 1975
Five Peru State College seniors from Auburn have been selected to the 1975-76 edition of Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges. Students honored are Shelly Able, Von A. Bachle, Karlene Badgett, Rick DeKlotz and Denise Rae Haynes.
Auburn took Halloween in stride Friday night, and for the most part all residents were on good behavior. The usual pranks were on schedule, with an abandoned outhouse deposited at the principal highway intersection the most obvious incident.
A recreation project with a cost tag of up to $262,667 was unveiled before the city council by members of the Auburn recreation council. The proposal, which would be done with 75 per cent state and federal money matched to local funds, encompasses major projects at the mini-park, additional baseball playing fields, tennis courts and a playground at Crest View.
