Johnson County Central’s Trevin Huskey may have been in fifth place when he started running towards the finish line, but by the time he crossed the finish line he was in second place as he passed two runners on his way to a runner-up medal to advance to the State Cross Country Meet in Kearney. Huskey crossed the finish line at 17:04.
Other JCC boys placing in the boys race included: Ashton Huskey who placed 23rd with a time of 19:00. Levi Othmer placed 31st at 19:59. Juan Aguilar came in 38th at 20:26. Dalton Henderson followed in 39th place at 20:26. Rene Villalobos placed 44th with a time of 20:49.
In the girls District race, Johnson County Central’s senior runner Madison VanLaningham ran at a steady pace and was in the middle of pack for earning a medal early in the race. However, she ended up placing 16th with a time of 22:45, which was just one place short of receiving a medal.
