Wendt’s Experience at State Golf Improved with Second Day Performance

Wendt’s experience at state golf improved with second day performance Johnson County Central’s Catherine Wendt competed in the Class C Girls State Golf Meet at North Platte Monday and Tuesday, October 13-14.

According to Coach Ben Swanson, Johnson County Central’s Girls Golf Coach, Catherine Wendt found trouble on may of the holes she played on Monday. Swanson indicated that the course is lined by tall native grass areas that are not marked as penalty areas, they are just part of the course. Wendt had to take numerous penalty strokes due to an unplayable lie, or lost ball in these native grass areas which inflated her score. For the day, Wendt had rounds of 67 and 64 for a total score of 131.

On Tuesday, October 14, Catherine Wendt made a great recovery. She shot rounds of 50 on both the front and back sides for a total score of 100. Coach Swanson said Wendt worked hard on the range prior to the second round and was really figuring out the tricky putting greens at Lake Maloney.
