The Tecumseh City Council received three bids for the Tecumseh Historic Square Preservation Project that has been in the works for 14 years.
“Obviously I’m happy that we’re finally there,” said City Foreman/ Economic Developer Doug Goracke. “Not just for my sake, but for everyone who’s put their time and effort into it. I’m eager to get it going. It’s needed. The downtown area has deteriorated even further than when we started.”
In 2012, the estimate for the project was just over $7 million. After all the intervening years, “the bids came in under what we expected,” said Goracke.
