Auburn State Theater Auditorium Dedicated as Carla Mason Auditorium

Auburn State Theater Auditorium Dedicated as Carla Mason Auditorium

A good turnout gathered at the Auburn State Theater late Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, as the theater’s auditorium was dedicated as the Carla Mason Auditorium.

Mason managed the theater from 2011 until her passing late in 2024. She led a community wide fundraiser to keep the theater in business under the ownership of Auburn Public Schools (APS). During Mason’s tenure improvements included new seating, a digital projector, new screen and capability of 3D showings. The theater has also been the site of a number of special events.

“This theater was a part of her life. She did many things to make a ‘gem and a jewel’ of Southeast Nebraska, as well as northern Kansas and northwest Missouri. She wanted this theater to be perfect and beautiful to anyone who came in for movies, concerts and even Husker football games,” noted Laura Osborne, APS Board of Education president.
