Saturday evening, October 11, the Auburn State Theater will glow a little brighter. At 5 p.m., the community is invited to gather and honor the late Carla Mason, the woman whose dedication helped transform the Auburn State Theater into one of southeast Nebraska’s treasures.
“For many years, Carla worked tirelessly to make Auburn State Theater into a gem of southeast Nebraska,” said Laura Osborne, president of the District 29 Board of Education. “She spearheaded many improvements as she worked alongside her husband, Rory, making our small-town, single- screen theater a great place for our community to enjoy big-screen entertainment. We felt it was important to create a permanent recognition of her in the theater she worked so hard to improve.”
So on Saturday, the curtain rises once more, this time for Carla herself. The public is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the theater, celebrating her lasting legacy and the joy she brought to countless movie nights in Auburn.
