Rebecca Johnson Joins Observer Staff

Rebecca Johnson Joins Observer Staff

As of September 15, the Nemaha Valley Observer has re-welcomed Rebecca Johnson, or Becky, to its office. Having once been a part of the advertising team, Johnson is now trying her hand at reporting and building each week’s paper before it is sent to the printer.

Johnson graduated from Peru State College with a bachelor degree in graphic design in 2005, then worked for PSC as a graphic designer for twelve years. She earned her Masters of Science in Organizational Management in 2017 at Peru State and took a job as the Assistant Director for Communication, Marketing and External Relations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business. Following her work at UNL, Johnson joined the Nemaha County Herald team as an advertisement designer and saleswoman.

Johnson then took a job at Highland Community College as the Director of Marketing and then, in 2020, worked for Auburn’s BCom Solutions as the Director of Rural Partnerships. She then spent a few years in various roles for Lead for Nebraska and, while she lived in Auburn during that time, she worked remote before leaving in June of 2025.
