Members of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, as well as District 1 Senator Robert Hallstrom and District 32 Senator Tom Brandt attended a meeting at the Tecumseh Fire Hall on Tuesday, September 16 to discuss deer/vehicle accidents, the number of deer recently harvested during the 2024 firearm deer hunting season and deer depredation.
The guest speaker discussed the book published by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission sharing recommendations, expectations and the outlook regarding deer harvest on a yearly basis. He added that the deer harvest has been fairly stable in the Johnson County area. There is no proof of having more deer strikes in the Crab Orchard area than any other areas within Johnson County.
He explained that the Game and Parks Commission is available to offer assistance for depredation issues. “We will come and look at any crop or tree damage.”
