on Saturday, September 13. Though the heat was enough to melt beeswax, people turned out in droves at Auburn Legion Memorial Park to experience the full schedule of events planned for the day.

Beginning early, a 5k run/walk started at 8am and was followed by The Waffle Man serving breakfast/brunch at the Senior Center until 11:30am. The park amphitheater, dubbed the Golden Hive Stage for the day, was given to various artists and musicians throughout the day, including Scott and Gwen from 1:30 to 4pm and High Heel from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Numerous vendor booths were set up throughout the park from 10 to 4pm and a sidewalk chalk contest was held in the afternoon down the parks main sidewalk. Throughout the day, a number of UNL Bee Lab Demos were held, including a Painting with Beeswax demonstration and other educational discussions about bees and how they help the world go round.

A foam party was held in the City Hall driveway, which children and adults alike were able to cool off in soapy bubbles before a honeybun eating contest took place at 6pm. The contest was divided into those 12 years old and younger and 13 years and older. The winner was decided by who could eat an entire honeybun the fastest without using their hands, and those winners were awarded with a box of honeybuns to be enjoyed at a slower pace.
