Encaustic art is an ancient medium that is being rediscovered, Margaret Berry related at Legion Memorial Park.

Berry, from Lincoln, has done encaustic wax art 20 years. She presented at the Saturday, Sept. 13 Honeybee Festival. Berry showed samples of her work while explaining she uses both yellow and white wax.

Many persons are coming across the process, Berry continued. She recalled meeting up with a librarian and happening upon a book, The Art of Encaustic Painting. Berry has taught encaustic art more than two decades at schools across Nebraska as well as nationally. She termed it a “teachable medium.” Berry has a master of arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
