Mason Amundsen will be teaching physical education K-12 at Sterling Public Schools this year, as well as coaching junior high football and junior high boys basketball, and assistant coaching varsity boys basketball. He was originally from Fremont, Nebraska.
After graduating from Midland University in the Spring of 2017, he taught elementary PE at Wood River Elementary for 3 years. He then taught K-12 PE at Pawnee City Public Schools for 5 years.
“I enjoy being able to teach all age groups. It gives me a lot of variety of experiences in my day-to-day work,” Amundsen said. “My goal in teaching is to be a positive role model for all students. The most rewarding experience is whenever the light bulb clicks on for a student and you can see them fully understanding what you want them to accomplish. Education gives me a chance to help students achieve more than they thought was possible for them and that is why I decided to get into education.”
