Deer Creek Sodbusters Antique Machinery Show Went Smoothly

The 43rd Annual Deer Creek Sodbusters Antique Machinery Show was held south of Sterling, Neb. on Sunday, October 10, 2025 featuring Allis-Chalmers tractors and A, B, C Line Engines. Deer Creek Sodbusters President Chris Salberg said that they had a strong showing of tractors and gas engine, although a 3/4 inch rain overnight cancelled the plowing demonstration that had been scheduled. The other regular events, flag raising, outdoor church service, machinery demonstrations, guest speaker, the Parade of Power, and kids straw pile scavenger hunt, as well as a craft and flea market, went on as usual.

A section of train track has been added, donated by Burlington Northern, and some memorabilia was donated by John Rogman. A popular new attraction this year was camel rides. Attendance, including members, exhibitors, and 209 paid spectators, reached about 500 people.

Members of the Deer Creek Sodbusters who were honored for years of membership were: 10 year members Sheila Focken, Rick Smith, and Sam and Susie Owen; 15 year member Todd Pella; 20 year members Roy Mullen, Don and Gwen Nelson, Jerry and Deb Pohlman, Justin and Chrrissie Wolf; 25 year members, Dan and Elizabeth Fraley; 30 year member Norma Burrows; and 35 year member Judy Schmidt.
