From the Chieftain Files

Thursday morning, a line of trucks waiting to be unloaded at Tecumseh developed because of a lack of grain storage at the facility here. One grain car was set aside at Tecumseh during the morning to relieve the situation. Yields of 25 – 40 bushels are threatening car shortages.

Two children of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Thies were found almost unconscious in an old pop cooler by their mother about 5:30 p.m. on Monday. When Mrs. Thies couldn’t find the boys, ages 5 and 3, she and a neighbor began to hunt for them in the barn behind the house. Hearing feeble cries, they located the boys locked in the old pop cooler. Mrs. Thies thought the boys had probably been in the cooler around 15 minutes. Both boys are doing well.
