Optimist Firework Sales Benefit Area Youth

Once again, Auburn’s Optimist Fireworks Stand is open for business in the Family Fare parking lot. As always, their shelves are stocked with a plethora of fireworks ranging from sparklers and smoke balls to huge cakes and Roman candles.

Sourced from a distributer in Springfield, Missouri, stand manager Heather Pemberton is excited about this year’s selection. “We went to the demo and the fireworks we picked out seem really great.” Some of the new choices this year include a 280 shot roman candle, a 2-minute fountain named ‘Mood Swing’ and two huge cakes named American Graffiti, which are the twin prizes for the stand’s giveaways. “For every $100 spent at the stand, you will get one entry in the drawing,” Pemberton said, “We will draw and announce the winners after closing up on July 3.”

The thing is, spending $100 at the Optimist Fireworks Stand will net customers with far more pyrotechnics than they might expect. The non-profit stand was sure to price their goods below retail value, and Pemberton explained that “This stand is really a two-part fundraiser. We want to set prices in such a way to both have a successful fundraiser, but also to create affordable options for any family who stops by.”
