March Non-Motor Vehicle Net Taxable Sales Show Increases in Most Regional Counties

Five of six Southeast Nebraska counties registered increases in non-motor vehicle net taxable sales in March 2025 compared to 12 months earlier.

The statistics were collected by the staff of the Nebraska Department of Revenue Research Division. Leading the way was Pawnee County with an increase of more than 20 percent. Johnson County was second and Gage County third. The only county reporting a decrease was Nemaha County, a little less than 5 percent.

Among the major cities in the region, it was halfway divided between increases and decreases during March. Tecumseh had the largest increase, a little less than 12 percent. The largest decrease was in Syracuse, 10.6 percent. Statewide sales were up slightly less than 3 percent.. Non-motor vehicle sales tax collections are compiled from county and city information that is self‑reported by applicants when requesting a sales tax permit. County statistics are grouped by county codes. City statistics are grouped by ZIP codes. The report is intended to provide insight on general sales and economic activity for selected locations.
