The 61st annual Johnson Chicken Barbecue weekend had warm weather with some humidity but no storms!

The Saturday, June 14 barbecue was served to about 600 persons. The Johnson Chamber of Commerce gave special thanks to Tecumseh Poultry/Smart Chicken for its sponsorship of the chicken halves. A new feature this year was the meal being served inside the air-conditioned school cafeteria.

There were two scavenger hunts. Participants searched the town looking for clues to decode a special message, looked for items and answered questions that could be found throughout the village. Participants who turned in their completed hunts were eligible to win $25. The winners will be announced.
