Nemaha County and Nemaha Rural Fire District 4 were among eight local governments to be scrutinized by Nebraska State Auditor Mike Foley for alleged financial misconduct.
In a public letter from Foley’s office to District 3 Commissioner and Chair Mike Weiss and Nemaha Rural Fire District 4 Chair Chris Stevenson dated May 23, the Nebraska Auditor of Public Accounts (APA) had received allegations of misuse of County-owned fuel pumps in District 1.
The APA was provided several photographs showing six vehicles being fueled at the County pumps after midnight on March 24 of this year, five of which belonged to the Nemaha Rural Fire District 4.
