Input on the new strategic plan to be developed by Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) representatives was presented by Southeast Nebraskans Tuesday night, May 13, at Nebraska City High School.
It was the 10th of 12 statewide focus groups. The first was Tuesday, April 14 and the last was Thursday, May 29. Representing NDE were Brian Maher, commissioner of education; Ryan Foor, assistant commissioner and chief of staff and Jessica Javorsky, grant specialist who works on special projects. Maggie Douglas of Bellevue, District 2 representative on the Nebraska Board of Education, also attended. The district encompasses Nemaha, Johnson, Cass, Otoe and Sarpy counties. She was elected in November 2024. Douglas asked those attending not to hesitate to reach out to her.
