Memorial Day allows actively engaging with the lessons offered by conflicts including World War II and Vietnam, Kenny Holmes, American Legion Post 23 commander, noted Monday morning, May 26 at Legion Memorial Park.
Holmes stated the observance evokes images of flags waving proudly at the solemn ceremonies. 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
The lessons from World War II still resonate today, the commander continued.
