BPW Informed On Meeting With State Officials On Short-Term Water Solution

An update on the ongoing water emergency was presented to the Auburn Board of Public Works (BPW) Wednesday, May 21.

Alan Slater, water and wastewater manager, noted the well levels had risen slightly and the river was up following rain earlier in the week. Ray Luhring, general manager, related he appreciated continued conservation efforts of the utility’s water customers.

Non-potable water is available to Auburn and Peru customers. In Auburn it is near the Auburn Recreation Complex by Longs Creek. The general manager indicated utility staff will monitor usage and will replenish the tank as needed. BPW does not want to set limits on non-potable water use, Luhring continued.
