The City of Auburn turned 143 on Sunday, May 4, and to celebrate, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a gathering at Legion Memorial Park. Auburn’s Volunteer Fire Department brought one of their fire engines and grilled burgers and hotdogs for celebrators and Treats By Ashley provided vanilla and chocolate cakes. A number of large yard games were set up around the band shell like connect four and jenga, and music was played throughout the event.

“We wanted to come together as a community and enjoy the day,” mentioned Leslie Clark, “What better way to celebrate than with some good food and music and games?” Clark noted that while there had only been two birthday parties held for Auburn during her time as the head of the Chamber, some of the bigger anniversaries like 125 had been celebrated. She also expects to plan larger events for the future, during years like 145 and 150. If you missed this year’s celebration, don’t fret. Another will be held next year when Auburn turns 144 years old.
