A winless Auburn soccer team entered the Subdistrict B-4 Tournament with a first round game against the Pioneers in Nebraska City just 11 days after the Pioneers defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 9-2 in Auburn.
On Saturday afternoon, a season that saw only 11 losses prior to the subdistrict tournament turned into a historic season for the Auburn girls soccer program, which defeated Nebraska City 3-2 in a shootout for their first postseason win in school history.
After giving up nine goals to Nebraska City in late April, which was tied for the most goals allowed by Auburn all season, the Bulldogs fortified their goal protection with an extra defender to blunt the Pioneer attack.
