Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership, Inc. (SENCA) Nemaha County outreach from October 2024 through March 2025 was delivered to the Nemaha County Commissioners Wednesday morning, April 23. May was also proclaimed Community Action Month.
Danyel Lewis, family development specialist, reported 80 individuals from 40 households were furnished 512 services. Those included access to the food pantry, school supplies, household items, case management and budgeting. Ten qualifying households are being served through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, she related. In some instances, Lewis noted clients are referred to other agencies including Catholic Social Services and Project Response. She also serves residents of Johnson and Pawnee counties.
Susan Keholm, SENCA development director, told county officials the partnership is facing funding challenges. That includes possibly eliminating funding to several services it operates. Those include Head Start, grants towards family outreach and weatherization. She stated she applies for program funding.
