By Tuesday morning, six of the class C1 state tournament teams had already earned their spot in the 2024 NSAA Boys Basketball Championships, but one team in particular was missing from that list. In the last five C1 boys state basketball tournaments, only one team has been a mainstay, but to make their sixth straight appearance, the Auburn Bulldogs would have to get a win over Battle Creek in the C1-3 district championship in Seward on Tuesday, February 27.
The Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat men’s and women’s basketball teams are playing in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) postseason basketball tournaments.
By the final period of play, junior Taryn Ottemann had lined up for the tip five times. By the second overtime, her challenger was a different player as fouls disqualified Bancroft-Rosalie’s starting center. Through what might have seemed like a nauseating case of Deja Vu, Ottemann won all five tips for the Lady Eagles in the district final.
Its do-or-die for the Auburn Bulldogs from here on out. The 25-0, #1 seed in class C1 has reached the district final stage, where they must win to advance in the postseason.
