Rowell Brothers Pace Bulldogs at Plattsmouth

In their only competition of the week, the Auburn boys wrestling team showcased their talents at the Plattsmouth Invitational on Friday, January 19. The invitational in Plattsmouth was originally scheduled for the 20th, but was moved up a day. Brothers Owen and Logan Rowell earned the best finishes for the Bulldogs with returning state qualifier Owen Rowell placing second in the 285 division, while younger brother Logan placed sixth in the 215 class. The efforts of the Rowell brothers led Auburn to a 14th place finish out of the 18 competing schools with 43 team points.

Two of the State’s Nine Remaining Undefeated Boys Basketball Teams Reside in Nemaha County

This high school boys basketball season, 282 Nebraska teams took the court, hoping to defeat their competition and avoid adding losses to their record. Now in mid-January only nine of those teams have made it through their schedule unscathed. Two of those remaining teams happen to be the two boys basketball teams right here in Nemaha County.

The 11-1 Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles earned the top spot in the A division of the 2024 girls MUDECAS tournament in Beatrice last week. Unfortunately for the top seeded Lady Eagles, their chance to claim the MUDECAS title was blown away by the recent severe winter weather as the tournament was canceled after multiple push backs.

Auburn Splits Closely Contested Home Games Against Maryville, MO, Palmyra

Coach Grant Cole’s Bulldog team found themselves in a couple of battles this past week. The Auburn girls hosted Maryville, Missouri and Palmyra this past week in Auburn. The Bulldogs fell short against the Spoofhounds on Tuesday, January 2, but bounced back with a close victory over Palmyra on Friday, January 5. Auburn sits at 5-7 following their most recent week of play.
