ANNA (JEANNERET) COATNEY

ANNA (JEANNERET) COATNEY

1939 - 2024

Anna Louise (Jeanneret) Coatney, 85, formerly of Auburn, Nebraska was born on March 15th, 1939, on the family farm just outside of Brock, Nebraska to Paul Sr. and Millie (Marchand) Jeanneret. She attended school in Brock and graduated from Brock High School with the class of 1957. On March 30, 1971, Anna was united in marriage to Dean Coatney in Seneca, Kansas. With this union, Anna became step-mother to Joyce and just over 4 ½ years later, Traci was born. The first year of their marriage, the two lived in Ohio and then returned to Auburn, Nebraska.

Anna held various jobs throughout her life, including the Auburn Sewing Factory and Triangle Pacific Cabinets from where she retired many years later. After retirement, Anna spent some time working for her niece at Branching Oaks Daycare where all adoringly referred to her as “Grandma Anna”.

Born one of 12 children, Anna had many nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time and making things for them. Family was of the utmost importance to her. Anna was a devoted wife and shared the love of her country with her husband who was a WWII Army Veteran. She was very excited to learn when she was expecting a child of her own. Anna loved being a mother and grandmother. She became “grandma” before becoming “mom”! Anna was blessed with three grandchildren – Erik, Nikki and Harper – and shared a special bond with each.

Anna liked living on a farm and enjoyed riding horses, gardening and planting flowers. She always had several houseplants and was very fond of poinsettias. Anna was proud of her Avon Doll Collection and later found herself with a collection of everything Mickey & Minnie Mouse, mostly gifted to her by her youngest grandson, Harper. Anna genuinely enjoyed talking with others, learning about everyone she met, visiting and sharing her stories too.

Anna passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of 85 years and 4 days. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean Coatney, brothers: Richard (Aurora), Paul (Vera), Marvin (Marilyn), George (Yvonne), Donald, and Clarence Jeanneret, a sister Norma (Richard) Ossowski, and
