Auburn’s Farrington Field Takes Flight with Hangar Project

Auburn’s Farrington Field Takes Flight with Hangar Project

Farrington Field Municipal Airport is getting a long-awaited upgrade that community leaders say will benefit Auburn and the surrounding area for decades to come.

The project, funded largely through federal and state supported funding, officially broke ground Aug. 25 when Caspers Construction began tearing down the airport’s 70-year-old hangar. The new facility is set to be finished in November.

When complete, the modern hangar along Highway 136 east of Auburn will hold up to nine planes in box-style bays, replacing the outdated T-style structure that could fit just four.
