Auburn boys basketball claimed the ECNC tournament championship by defeating Weeping Water on Monday, January 31, Johnson County Central on Thursday, February 3, and Freeman on Saturday, February 5. The Bulldogs entered the tournament as the #2 seed despite defeating #1 seed Freeman 42-22 back in December.
The 2022 Pioneer Conference boys basketball tournament, which features the Johnson-Brock Eagles, began on Tuesday, January 1. The Eagles earned the #5 seed in the tournament and ultimately faced three teams that had defeated them earlier in the regular season. While the Eagles were competing to win the conference, the tournament would also tell if the Eagles had improved since last facing their conference foes.

The Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week with a win over Falls City (12-6) on Tuesday, January 25 followed by a close loss to Superior (15-3) on Friday, January 28 in Auburn.
