Viking Softball Sweeps Peru State

The 24th-ranked Grand View softball team were not kind hosts on Thursday as they swept Peru State 9-0 and 8-0 – both in five innings – in Des Moines.

The Vikings improved to 25-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) and 35-6 overall. The ‘Cats fell to 6-32 on the season and are 5-23 in conference play.

First Game Action

Grand View scored two runs in each of the first two innings and added five in the bottom of the third for the 9-0 win.

The Vikings scored those nine runs off of eight hits while holding the Bobcats to one hit. Peru State committed four errors.

Jordynn Jimenez (Delano Beach, Calif.) had the lone hit for the ‘Cats which was a double.

Alana Krieser (Lincoln) suffered the loss while tossing a complete game. Krieser threw four innings allowing eight hits, nine runs – eight earned, and struck out one.
