Viera and Flodman Peru State September Athletes of the Month

Peru, Neb.) – Today, Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider announced that Bobcat volleyball player Cristina Viera (Montevideo, Uruguay) and football player A.J. Flodman (Hickman) were selected as the September Athletes of the Month. They were picked based on their efforts and/or honors earned during the past month.
The senior libero, Viera earned Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Defender of the Week honors on Sept. 18 and has been on a terror defensively the rest of the month. Viera had 33 digs in each of the Bobcat wins over Graceland (Iowa) and Culver-Stockton (Mo.) – both of which were on the road. She averaged 7.33 digs per set in the wins. Presently, she is the Heart’s top diggers with 6.630 digs per set. As of Oct. 2, Viera is also leading the NAIA in digs per set and fourth in total digs with 477. In addition, she has 37 service aces – 12th in the NAIA and is 38th in service aces per game at 0.510.
