Three Bulldog Wrestlers Qualify for Class B State Championships; Team Finished Ninth at Districts

Coach Mark Oliver’s Comments

The Bulldog wrestlers battled the flu and one of the toughest districts in Class B last week. Coach Mark Oliver said, “We wrestled very well and qualified three wrestlers for the show in Omaha this week. While we did not have a district champion, I was proud of how we overcame adversity and punched three tickets to state.

“Jalen Maher and Trent Ford were our highest placers, capturing the bronze in their respective weight classes. Both wrestlers gutted out some tough wins during the tournament. Kole Ligouri lost two close matches, but he managed to pull off a tremendous win in the heartbreak round to qualify for the third consecutive year.

“We had three other wrestlers make it to the heartbreak round. Trent Hall, Tye Ommert and Brad Hall all made it to the round next to qualifying. Two freshmen and a sophomore at this level leaves us with a lot to be optimistic about for next year. All three wrestled great!
