Pioneer Baseball Includes Johnson-Brock Players

It had been almost two years since the Pioneers of Nebraska City played spring baseball. Like every other team in the state, the Pioneers never got to throw a single pitch in the 2020 season due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Spring has come around once again for the Nebraska City students, and others, and this year they’re playing ball.

The Nebraska City High School baseball team, which cooperates with Lourdes Central Catholic and Johnson-Brock, opened the season with two losses to Mount Michael Benedictine and Platteview. The Pioneers held Platteview scoreless in the first six innings before giving up the deciding run in the final inning. The Pioneers bounced back with two straight wins over Platte Valley by a score of 6-4, and Wahoo/Bishop Neumann/Lincoln Lutheran 8-6.
