Magnolia Metal Juniors Earn Fourth Place at Southeast Nebraska Baseball Conference Tournament

The Magnolia Metal Juniors American Legion baseball team placed fourth in last week’s Southeast Nebraska Baseball Conference tournament. The team has a 9-7 record entering the final days of June.

Tuesday night, June 20, Magnolia Metal Juniors opened the tournament with a 13-6, five-inning win over Falls City. In the Thursday night, June 22, Southern Division championship, the Juniors lost 2-5 to Nebraska City. Both games were played at Nebraska City. Saturday afternoon, June 24, at Tushla Field, Magnolia Metal Juniors were edged 3-4 by Wilmar Electric.

Falls City

After allowing Falls City three first inning runs, Magnolia Metal Juniors responded with six in its initial at-bat. Auburn had a double, four singles, two stolen bases, a hit batter with another safe on an error. Falls City tied the score in the third inning. Magnolia Metal Juniors took the lead for good with six in their half of the third. Three runs scored on errors with two others crossing the plate on a wild pitch.
