It was good to grind out a win,” said Lucus Dahlinghaus, head boys basketball coach for the Johnson-Brock Eagles who defeated Mead 45-29 in the District finals played at Palmyra on February 25. The Eagles will enter the Nebraska State Boys Basketball Tournament with a 21-4 record. The #5 ranked Johnson-Brock boys will open the state tournament against #4 seed Humphrey St. Francis at Lincoln Southwest High School at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 7.

“We got off to a great start defensively as we held Mead to 9 points in the first half. Offensively, we struggled to score as Mead tried to slow our scoring momentum down,” said Coach Dahlinghaus.

The Eagles scored 11 points in the first quarter while holding Mead to four points. Johnson-Brock’s Cole Fossenbarger and Wyatt Volker handled the scoring with their three-point shots. In the second quarter, Mead’s press held the Eagles to eight points with Kaden Glynn and Ty Hahn scoring from the outside. Dylan Rowe contributed a couple of free throws. The Eagles widened their lead 19-9 at the halftime break.
