First National Bank Seniors 11-9 Entering July 9 Home Finale Against Ashland
The First National Bank Senior American Legion baseball team began July play with four losses over 6 days. At Tushla Field Tuesday night, July 2, First National Bank Seniors dropped a 2-11 decision to Crete. Thursday afternoon, July 4 the Seniors lost 2-10 at Nebraska City. The Auburn team traveled to Omaha Roncalli Saturday afternoon, July 6 losing 2-6. The week concluded Sunday afternoon, July 7 falling 1-12 at Wahoo. All games went 5 innings except Omaha Roncalli.
Ryne Flynn had all 3 Seniors hits including a triple, scoring a run, driving in another and stealing a base. Aiden Worthy scored First National Bank Seniors’ other run, he was also hit by a pitch. Zach Dickerson had an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Receiving walks were Hayden Hall, Josh Lambert, Tye Ommert and Kyson Warner. Liam Raison was safe on an error. Cole Fossenbarger hit into a fielder’s choice. First National Bank Seniors stranded 6 baserunners with Crete leaving 4. Losing pitcher was Lambert. In the first 2 innings, he surrendered 5 hits and 5 earned runs striking out 1. Dickerson pitched 1 inning giving up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. Hall threw the final inning, allowing 4 hits, 3 earned runs and a walk. He struck out 5. Crete racked up 13 hits. Logan Adam had 4 hits including 2 doubles driving in 4. Nate Mensik had 3 hits, scoring twice and driving in another. Homering were Dillon Feeken and Gage Scheuni. Starting pitcher Carson Johanson was credited with the victory. He allowed 2 hits, an earned run and 2 bases on balls in 2 innings, striking out 1. Caleb Vertin tossed the final inning giving up a hit and an earned run. Vertin walked 2 and struck out 4.
