Eagles Win One of Three Games in Pioneer Conference Tourney

Entering the next to last week of the regular season, the Johnson-Brock Eagles have a 13-8 season record.

Last week, Johnson-Brock boys were 1-2 in the Pioneer Conference tournament.

The Eagles, sixth seed, opened the tournament Monday night, Feb. 1 winning a 48-37 decision over the Pawnee City Indians, 11th seed. Tuesday night, Feb. 2, Johnson-Brock lost 3o-45 to the third seed Southern Raiders. In the consolation round Friday, Feb. 5, the Eagles dropped a 46-52 decision to Diller-Odell, fifth seed at Sterling.

Top seed Tri County captured the tournament championship with a 38-26 triumph over second seed Falls City Sacred Heart.

Boys’ subdistrict matchups are to be released Tuesday, Feb. 16 by the Nebraska School Activities Association. The Eagles’ subdistrict includes Elmwood-Murdock, 2-13; Lourdes Central Catholic, 11-7 and Weeping Water, 4-14. Records are as of Monday morning, Feb. 8.

Pawnee City Game

Johnson-Brock trailed 4-13 after the opening quarter and 19-20 at halftime. The Eagles outscored the Indians 29-17 in the second half.

The Eagles trailed 5-8, 9-17 and 17-27 after the first three quarters.
