Eagles Take HTRS Tournament Crown To Remain Perfect After First 10 Games

The Johnson-Brock Eagles finished their 2018 play winning twice in the Humboldt/Table Rock-Steinauer (HTRS) Tournament. The boys are 10-0 entering their Saturday, Jan. 5 encounter at Weeping Water.

Friday afternoon, Dec. 28 Johnson-Brock won 72-38 over the Pawnee City Indians. The Eagles came back the next night romping 73-43 over the Deshler Dragons. In both of the games, a quartet of Eagles hit double figures on the scoreboard.

Deshler had defeated the host Titans 67-58 qualifying for the championship. In the third place game, HTRS took a 62-30 victory over Pawnee City.

Tuesday, Jan. 8 the Eagles open play in the MUDECAS tournament at Beatrice. More on the week in a separate article.

Pawnee City

Johnson-Brock led 14-9 after the first quarter and 28-20 at intermission before outscoring the Indians 28-8 in the third quarter.

Leading the scoring parade was Kaden Glynn with 20 points. Cole Fossenbarger had 15, including 6 of 7 from 2-point range. Dylan Rowe tallied 13 with Ty Hahn adding 11 including 3 treys.

Rounding out the Eagles scoring were Shane Westhart 4; Seth Moerer 3; and 2 each from Kolt Davis, Brendon Froisland and Wyatt Volker.

Johnson-Brock hit 26 of 43 from 2-point range, 60 percent; was 5 of 18 from beyond the arc, 28 percent while making 5 of 10 free throws, 50 percent.
