Eagles Boys Have New Coach, Most Starters Back

New Johnson-Brock Boys Basketball Coach Lucus Dalinghaus has four returning letter winners around which to build the 2016-17 Varsity. This group includes three seniors and one sophomore from last season’s 11-12 squad. However, last year’s JV Eagles compiled a 16-8 mark.

While this is Dalinghaus’ first year at the helm of the Eagles, it is seventh season as head coach. He coached at Bern (Kansas) High School for two seasons in 2009-2011 with one state tournament appearance in his final season there. Dalinghaus also coached at Axtell (Kansas) H.S. four years from 2011-15 with state appearances in 2013 and 2015, and the guiding his squad to the state title in 2013.

Dalinghaus follows Nick Krenk, who led the team for the past several years. Johnson-Brock had one of the toughest D-1 schedules but competed well against many teams in larger divisions, he commented. There was only one senior on the team a year ago allowing the Eagles to return a wealth of experience for the 2016-17 squad.
