Concludes Season with a 25-10 Record

Bulldog Softball Wins One of Three at State Tournament

For the second consecutive year, the Auburn Bulldogs went 1-2 at the Class C state softball tournament in Hastings. Auburn finishes the 2017 season 25-10.

The Bulldogs opened state play with a 7-13 loss to Bishop Neumann Wednesday morning, Oct. 11. Thursday morning, Oct. 12, Auburn bounced back rolling 15-4 over Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan in five innings. Immediately afterwards, the Bulldog season ended with a 4-10 loss to Arlington.

The Cavaliers scored single tallies in the first and third innings. The Bulldogs got on the board in the fourth on a solo homer by Meg Rieschick. A Mollie Grant single was followed by Kylie Allen hitting a two-run blast giving Auburn a 3-2 lead.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 7-3 in the fifth. Two errors, two singles and a double accounted for the scoring. In the bottom of the inning, Bishop Neumann sent 15 batters to the plate with 11 scoring. Auburn got one baserunner each in the sixth and seventh innings but was unable to advance them beyond first base.
