Bulldogs Retain ECNC Softball Tourney Title
The Auburn Bulldog softball team is 18-5 entering the final week of the regular season. Tuesday night, Sept. 24 the Bulldogs scored 9 sixth inning runs routing Omaha Mercy/ Brownell-Talbot 11-3 at home. Auburn traveled to Syracuse Thursday night, Sept. 26, blanking the Rockets 10-0 in 5 innings. Saturday, Sept. 28, the Bulldogs swept 3 East Central Nebraska Conference opponents capturing the conference championship at the Recreation Complex. Auburn shut out Freeman 13-0 in 4 innings; blasted Conestoga 16-1 in 3 frames before downing Malcolm 6-1 in the title contest.
Omaha Mercy/ Omaha Brownell-Talbot Game
The Bulldogs led 2-0 after 3 innings after single tallies in the first and third innings. Omaha Mercy scored once in the fourth and twice in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead before Auburn’s rally. Auburn outhit the Omaha team 8 to 4. Hits: Kylie Allen and Leah Grant 2 each; and Harmony Franke, Maclaine Hug, Shelby Neiman and Macy Rieschick. Allen had a homer and a double.
