Bulldogs, Eagles Advance to Volleyball Subdistrict Finals
Tuesday night, Oct. 27, the Auburn Bulldogs and the Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles played in their respective volleyball subdistrict finals.
C1-1: Auburn opened postseason play Monday night, Oct. 26, sweeping the Falls City Tigers, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-23. The Bulldogs, 13-9 played at the 20-1 Syracuse Rockets for the subdistrict title. The Rockets reached the subdistrict championship with a 25-16, 25-7 and 25-10 triumph over Fairbury. Falls City ends the season 12-16 while Fairbury concludes 2020 with a 7-22 record.
D1-1: Johnson-Brock, 18-11, captured a four-set decision over the Elmwood-Murdock Knights. Scores were 25-18, 25-10, 12-25 and 25-14. The Knights finish the year 14-19. The Lady Eagles met the 20-10 Humboldt/Table Rock-Steinauer (HTRS) Titans in the subdistrict championship at Humboldt. The Titans eliminated the Southern Raiders, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-15. Southern advanced to meet HTRS with a 25-20, 25-13 and 25-14 win over the Pawnee City Indians in the play-in match. Southern and Pawnee City end their seasons 12-15 and 9-20, respectively.
