Bulldogs Defeat Visiting Omaha South; Lose at Platteview

The Auburn Bulldog baseball team had a 6-6 record entering its Monday, April 22 game at Ashland with Platte Valley. At Tushla Field Tuesday, April 16, the Bulldogs scored three times in the sixth defeating Omaha South, 6-4. It was Auburn’s fourth consecutive win. Thursday, April 18, the Bulldogs lost 3-13 to Platteview in five innings at Springfield.

Omaha South Game

The Packers scored once in their first at bat before Auburn took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning. After Omaha South tied the game in the third, the Bulldogs regained the lead with a fifth inning tally. The Packers evened the contest in the sixth before Auburn took the lead to stay in its half of the frame. Auburn outhit the visitors 11 to 7. Hits: Tye Ommert 3; Brody Darnell, Hayden Hall and Kyson Warner each 2, with Darnell and Warner hitting doubles; Branden Lavigne and Weston Reiman. Runs: Darnell and Ommert 2 apiece; Hayden Hall and Warner. RBI: Darnell, Trevor Dickerson, Lavigne and Warner. Warner drew a base on balls adding a sacrifice fly. Dickerson reached base twice on errors. Darnell had a stolen base. Hitting into fielder’s choices were Darnell, Josh Lambert, Lavigne, Ommert and Liam Raison. The Bulldogs played errorless ball. Auburn stranded 7 baserunners with Omaha South leaving 6. Reiman was credited with the win. In three-and one-third innings, he allowed 3 hits, 2 runs both earned, walking 2 and striking out 4. Lambert pitched the remaining three-and twothirds innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, both earned while striking out 6. Jose Villagomez had 3 of Omaha South’s hits driving in 2 runs. Villagomez and Tyler Adam each doubled. Adam pitched a complete game taking the loss. He allowed 11 hits, 6 runs with 4 earned, allowing a walk and striking out 2.
