Bulldog Softball Subdistricts Oct. 5, Matchups Will Be Available Oct. 1

Class C subdistrict matchups are being announced Thursday, Oct. 1 by the Nebraska School Activities Association.

NEW POSTSEASON FORMAT

Auburn’s subdistrict is Monday, Oct. 5. It includes Falls City, Fort Calhoun, Syracuse and Weeping Water. The highest seed team will be the host unless it chooses not to do so. Subdistricts will be single elimination with the winner qualifying for districts.

The association notes a change to the Class C softball postseason. Previously, schools were assigned to districts with six district winners and two wild cards reaching the state tournament.

Class C subdistrict assignments are divided into 10 groups. They are based solely on geographic location starting west and moving east. All subdistricts will be four or five teams. The five-team groups will be those that are furthest east.

DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION

Scheduled Friday or Saturday, Oct. 9 or 10. Will be a one day, best of three series. Again, the higher seed will be host unless it opts out. Pairings will be based on wildcard point averages following subdistricts.

Class C district championship assignments will consist of the 10 subdistrict champions and the six non-winners having the highest wildcard point averages following subdistricts.

District winners advance to the Class C tournament Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 14 through 16 at the Bill Smith Softball Complex at Hastings.
