Bulldog Boys Open Season By Winning 45-31 at Malcolm

Saturday, Dec. 3, the Auburn Bulldogs opened the season with a 45-31 East Central Nebraska Conference win over Malcolm. It was their first game under new Coach Jim Weeks.

Coach Weeks said, “We played with great effort and were great teammates. Our defense at the point position was solid and we rebounded well. For the first game with a new coaching staff the kids played well. Some of the boys had never played varsity basketball or at least with the major roles they played on Saturday. To hold an opponent to 11 points at half was a positive start. The buy-in from our kids in the style of play we want to have and type of practices we want to have has been very positive. It is a long journey not a short journey so the mistakes we are making and skills we are developing will help us continue to improve throughout the year.

“The JV team won a big game as they trailed by 10 points with under 4 minutes to play in the fourth quarter. They came back and won a 37-34 thriller. That sure helps the kids confidence going into the varsity game,” Weeks added.
